BEHIND THE NAME
The Iris, February’s birth flower, holds deep significance for us—it marks the month Sadie + Jean was born six years ago and now symbolises a new beginning with the launch of our sister brand in the same month.
While creating Iris, we rediscovered a treasured book from 1976, 'The Language of Flowers', once owned by Jean, Nikki’s grandmother. It revealed that Iris means "message," reinforcing our belief that this name was meant to be.
In Greek mythology, Iris was the goddess of rainbows, a messenger bridging worlds. This idea of transition and fresh starts felt like the perfect metaphor for our journey—a bridge between past and present, heritage and evolution, familiarity and something entirely new.
At its heart, Iris represents renewal, transformation, and being "in bloom"—a reflection of this exciting new chapter while staying rooted in the values of Sadie + Jean.
