METALS 101
The choice of metal plays an important role in both the look and longevity of your engagement ring or wedding band. Each option offers its own balance of colour, durability and character.
9kt Gold: 9kt gold contains 37.5% pure gold, alloyed with other metals for added strength. This makes it more durable and slightly more muted in colour, ideal for everyday wear. It is typically stamped 375, indicating its gold content.
14kt Gold: 14kt gold contains 58.5% pure gold, offering a balance between richness in colour and durability. It has a warmer tone than 9ct while remaining strong enough for daily wear. It is stamped 585.
18kt Gold: 18kt gold contains 75% pure gold, giving it a deeper, more saturated colour and a more luxurious feel. Slightly softer in composition, it is often chosen for fine jewellery. It is stamped 750.
Platinum: Platinum is typically 95% pure metal, making it denser and more durable than gold. Naturally white in colour, it does not require plating and develops a soft patina over time. It is commonly stamped 950.
